Title: Faete testing
Post by: Fyndhal on May 21, 2017, 04:09:59 PM
So...Marcian, how'd it go at the con? Learn a lot? What sort of notes did you get? What's the number one takeaway from the testing?

He learned a ton of shit actually. We had 2 ladies join us and give a ton of feedback. It was a very interesting experience. Unfortunately, I gave him all the notes I took since I was just a guinea pig with a free pass

Escher was an amazing assistant, and I was super happy for the experience. Right now, I'm in an odd place where I'm paralyzed by how much I've learned. I need to update the game now, but there's a lot to go with. I have notes and notes and not sure where to begin.

But people tend to like the game. I've got some legit negative feedback I respect and a lot of positive feedback to work with. It's helping out. I think this game can really happen which is, ya know... terrifying. :)

Okay, perhaps I can help with the notes. Ready?

Go through each line of feedback and codify it in terms of "Look/Feel", "Rules Question", "Game Pacing", etc. Try to keep the categories fairly broad.

Next, see if you can normalize the feedback. If there are 4 different ways people are saying "the game is too slow" try to identify them and get them to be roughly the same.

Once you have a fairly strong list of common feedback, look for the ones which will have the biggest impact if addressed. That's your starting point.
