Music stuff?
« on: May 21, 2015, 10:10:03 AM »
Idk, thread for talking and recommendations? :)

When I was a kid there was a band called Tsunami Bomb that I was obsessed with and credit to my caring about good music etc. They broke up when I was in high school, the lead singer and bassist formed a new band (The Action Design) then a few years later they broke up and the lead singer and guitarist started a new band called Survival Guide (srvvlgd for the purposes of searching online!)

Point is that after 4 years she finally released her first album as Survival Guide (singular cause the guitarist left and it's a solo project now!) last week. It was definitely worth the wait, I'm in love with it completely! Tsunami Bomb was a punk band, The Action Design was kind of new new wave with punk influences, and now Survival Guide is this hard to describe medley of genres that isn't confined by any of them. My favorite quote from an album review was that "The music is exciting because the band clearly has no regard for what's happening on the radio or in the local clubs."

Here's a link to her bandcamp page where you can preview the whole album! I'm too sleepy to figure out hyperlinking with my phone!

My other suggestion is a band called Cayetana. They're first full length came out (on my birthday) last September and is just incredible. I've seen them live 5 times since then and they keep getting better and are the nicest people.

While the record moves at a really fast pace, the lyrics are really heartfelt and meaningful. I may have teared up at several shows while also singing along so loudly I lost my voice #whoops
