If I knew how to make friends and be inviting, 33% of my reason for being a hermit would no longer apply.

Create discussions. Link said discussions to people who may be interested in the topic and invite their opinion.

Create content which cannot be located elsewhere - Make this the official "Home" for Faete discussion, for instance.

As a rule, Forum's are kind of a dead medium, which is sad. Most of the core functionality of just chatting with others is handled via Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and other social media. The main things that *forums* offer are:
  • Topicality - Generally, if you are going to a Forum it is for a specific reason
  • Permanence - Conversations and data can 'live' considerably longer on a forum than in most Social Media locations.
  • Search-ability - Searching a forum is generally easier/faster than trying to search for something on tumblr or Facebook.

Invite good people, talk about things, don't leave.

You know, there are times when I feel the advice we give isn't taken seriously.

Maybe it is--maybe everyone else in the world are just jerk-bags.

You know what? You're right. I wasn't giving the advice you gave the consideration it deserved and that was a jerkbag move on my part. I'll post more and share some Faete thoughts here. To be honest, when I read your post, my reflexive response was "I don't know how to share Faete here", so I alt+tabbed away while I thought about it... and then got distracted.

But you're right. I should post more here. That's my fault.

No reverse jerkbagging my jerkbag, or you will be gone to the americans.

I had an idea to advertise it to my 12k+ nerdy porn followers, but I'm not sure I want a lot of them here.  :-[ However, I may suggest to a couple privately they come check out the forum is Marcian is ok with it.
